Commissioners Invited to Town Meeting 3/31/2008

OVERTAXATION ISSUE OF MOBILE HOMES ON RENTED LOTS

WHEN AND IF THIS TOWN MEETING COMES ABOUT, THE PLACE, DATE AND TIME WILL BE POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE.

All 3 of the Franklin County PA Commissioners, Cheif Assessor, another Assessor and one of the Counter staff were invited to a Town Meeting with Mobile Home Owners, Newspaper Reporter's, Channel 25 TV News, and any other media that will attend, etc..... This meeting has yet to be setup, as soon as the availablity of the Commissioners is known, a mutually agreeable date & time will be set and notification will be posted on this website. This would be a good and efficient way to notify owners of the Overtaxation Issue.

It was requested that the meeting be held in the evening after regular day-time work hours. Topic's to be covered: an explaination of the Mobile Home Overtaxation Issue and the numerous misinformation statements received from the assessment office by owners.

As of 4/14/2008 no reply has been received from any of the Commissioners, however numerous Newspapers were interested in attending. One of the Commissioners Robert Thomas was contacted 4/11/2008, his thought on the town meeting was that it would confuse to many people, he said he could explain it one on one, but not to a group. I for one don't understand that, if he can explain it one on one, why wouldn't a group of people understand it also, atleast most of the group and besides it would be in the newspapers to help notify owners.

This Overtaxation Issue can be very complicated, if you try to explain it in to much detail. Its like driving a car, all that most people want to know is how to start & stop it, they don't want to know how to take the engine apart and put it back together. Just keep it simple, don't complicate life any more than it has to be. All that most mobile home owners on rented lots need to know is that under the current system, they are paying to much in Real Estate Tax.
